Trinity Solar is First in NJ to Install 2,000 Solar Electric Systems
FREEHOLD, N.J April 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/.- New Jersey.based Trinity Solar. New Jersey ‘s largest solar energy provider and named by NJBIZ as the 26th fastest growing company in the state, has reached a major milestone with its 2,000th solar electric installation – nearly double the number of any other solar provider serving the Garden State. This is a landmark achievement not only because of the sheer quantity of systems Trinity has installed, but also because Trinity has firmly established itself as the preferred solar provider in New Jersey.
The Freehold.based company, which has been designing and installing solar electric systems since 2004, reports a sharp increase in demand for solar power from both residential and commercial clients.
We’ve seen a substantial uptick, reports Ed Merrick. Trinity’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. We’ve grown our installation base to over 150 per month, with the majority of our systems being installed in New Jersey. The state is embracing solar power. Trinity also serves customers in Connecticut. Delaware. Massachusetts. New York. and Pennsylvania.
Merrick credits several factors for the surge in interest in Trinity, starting with substantial savings. According to Merrick, residential customers are first excited to learn that generating their own power via solar panels can save them up to 2,000 annually on their electric bill.
Next comes the realization that solar buildings can produce income. in most cases thousands of dollars a year. when owners sell energy credits back to utilities.
Finally, Trinity Solar offers multiple financing options that eliminate the start-up fees that once deterred clients. With Trinity, home or business owners are able to go solar at a greatly reduced cost and immediately reap the rewards of a lower energy bill.
Trinity Solar. one of the leading solar electric system integrators for residential and commercial clients in North America. has 2,000 solar electric installations and more than 18,000 energy-related clients. With over 300 employees, NJBIZ ranked Trinity as the largest renewable energy company in New Jersey . What is Solar Energy and How Does It Work?
The following explanation from Energy Sage helped me to understand what solar energy is and how I could use it in my home.
“Solar is one of the fastest growing and cheapest sources of power in the world, and will continue to spread rapidly in the coming years. With solar panel technology improving each year, the economic benefits of solar improve, adding to the environmental perks of choosing a clean, renewable energy source.
A common way for property owners to take advantage of solar energy is with a photovoltaic (PV) solar system. With a solar PV system, solar panels convert sunlight right into electricity that can be used immediately, stored in a solar battery, or sent to the electric grid for credits on your electric bill.
Solar panels convert solar energy into usable electricity through a process known as the photovoltaic effect. Incoming sunlight strikes a semiconductor material (typically silicon) and knocks electrons loose, setting them in motion and generating an electric current that can be captured with wiring. This current is known as direct current (DC) electricity and must be converted to alternating current (AC) electricity using a solar inverter. This conversion is necessary because the U.S. electric grid operates using AC electricity, as do most household electric appliances.
Solar energy can be captured at many scales using photovoltaics, and installing solar panels is a Smart way to save money on your electric bill while reducing your dependence on nonrenewable fossil fuels. Large companies and electric utilities can also benefit from photovoltaic solar energy generation by installing large solar arrays that can power company operations or supply energy to the electric grid.”
“My spouse and I are really pleased with Trinity Solar, and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in going solar. The permit process went well, and the installation of the system was flawless. The timeline went as expected. Thanks team Trinity!” – E. O’Connor, N.Y.

Why Solar Energy?
Ok, so you understand what it is and how it works (but let’s be honest when people start throwing around words like “photovoltaic” we start to tune out).
Let’s get practical and talk about the good stuff.
Why replace your electric energy with solar powered energy?
Justin, our rep with Trinity solar, wrote out this sheet during our initial consult. Having had a solar system on the house we just sold one year ago, I totally agree with his comparison.
- Save moneyby eliminating or significantly reducing your electric bill.
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to reported climate changes.
- Sell your home faster and for more moneyby increasing the overall value.
- Reduce lung and heart problems by significantly reducing air pollutants such as nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide, and particulate matter emissions.
Save money. Save the environment.
“The installation was done very professionally. We don’t have any pipes running across our roof. Only the panels show. We didn’t have to pay anything for the system or the installation – just the energy our house produces. And the cherry on top is that we’re saving our environment.” – D. Krue, M.A.

How Do I Qualify for a Solar System?
Ok, so you are interested, but HOW do you qualify? Below is the exact process we went through with Trinity Solar.
I can tell you this process is EASY or else we wouldn’t have done it twice.
Step 1: Initial Consult
This is when a Trinity rep will first meet with you at your house and review your home’s solar potential. This is the biggest factor in whether or not you will qualify for a free system. In order for Trinity Solar to benefit from giving you a free solar system, then there has to be enough energy generated to cover your electric usage and also leave enough energy credits for Trinity.
This is not something you have to figure out.
When you sign-up for an initial consult there is no obligation to anything and a dime never leaves your from beginning to end.
If you don’t qualify, then you end at step 1. If you do qualify, then they will offer to move to step 2.
The kids were very into learning about solar energy.
Step 2: Design Approval
If it is determined your roof would generate enough energy based on your sun exposure and yearly electric usage (they will need to see a recent electric bill), then Trinity’s engineering department creates a solar panel design that is as aesthetically pleasing as possible and will review it with you for approval.
Reviewing the design proposal!
This is the design plan for our current home that will be installed in April!
It is during this visit that your potential cost savings will be reviewed. Our first house we saved 500 in the first year, and the projected savings based on the kWh rate was almost 50,000 over the course of 25 years!
This varies from house to house and in our current home we use a lot more electric due to not having gas available and have a smaller roof, so the savings is not as drastic but still worth it!
Also to note, if your system produces more than you end up using in a year, the local utility company will cut you a check annually.
Step 3: Permit/Utility approval
Trinity really takes it from here. You will sign papers, but otherwise Trinity does all the work with your local electric utility company to get approval to generate solar energy into the grid.
Step 4: Installation
Approximately 2-3 months after your initial survey visit your solar system will be installed. The installation takes about 3 days to complete.
Here was the install happening at the Classic Colonial.
Here is the install happening at our current home.
Step 5: Inspection and Permission to Operate
The system will then be inspected, the utility company will update your meter, and approximately one month after install your system will be given permission to operate!

Ok, let’s talk through the process so you understand how it works.
“The installation team was wonderful, and they were a pleasure to have at our home and did a great job. They were very attentive to our desire to minimize the visibility of electric conduits from the roof to the meter.” – E. Kissel, C.T.

Referral Program
Trinity Solar does business based primarily on referrals. They rely on satisfied customers to tell their neighbors, friends and family about the incredible opportunity to save money, help the environment and build equity in their home for FREE!
If one person decides to do the same because of your referral, then Trinity Solar will cut you an additional check for 500.
In our very first year with solar panels, we got a free system, saved 500 on our electric bill and got a check for 500 for referring our neighbor. BAM.
1000 into the bank for using the earth’s natural resources.
Answers to questions we are frequently asked:
- Selling our home with the solar panels was no problem. I had to educate the realtors, but as soon as they understood the process potential buyers never showed hesitation because of the system, and in fact, loved that their monthly electric bill was a standardized payment to the solar company for use of the panels. The system easily transferred to the next homeowners.
- If there’s damage to the panels, then the system is fully covered during the 25 year term and the solar company takes full responsibility for repairing them.
- After 25 years, you can choose to purchase the system, remove the system, or upgrade to a new one.
If you have more questions, then feel free to ask me in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев below, or even better schedule your initial consult today!

Beetle Armor is a Hardmode, post-Golem armor set that provides melee and defensive bonuses. Though it is crafted from Turtle armor, it trades away the Thorns effect in exchange for stronger offensive or defensive bonuses (depending on which chest piece is worn). It is the final melee armor set available on the Old-gen console version, Windows Phone version, and Nintendo 3DS version. On the PC version, Console version, Mobile version, Old Chinese version, tModLoader version, and tModLoader 1.3-Legacy version, it is the penultimate melee only armor set followed by Solar Flare armor.
Beetle armor has two variants for its chest piece; Beetle Scale Mail and Beetle Shell. The Beetle Scale Mail enhances damage output and is slightly more agile, whereas the Beetle Shell provides more defense.
Beetle armor provides the following bonuses when fully equipped:
With Beetle Scale Mail [ ]
- 8% melee critical hit chance
- 14% melee damage
- 12% melee speed
- 12% movement speed
- Significantly higher chance that enemies will target the wearer
- Beetle Might offensive buff: increases melee speed and damage by increments of 10% when dealing melee damage to enemies. The boost can be raised up to 30%, and the rate at which it increases depends on total damage dealt per second. Dealing less than roughly 180 damage per second will not grant Beetle Might at all. The buff depletes at an accelerating rate as long as the wearer does not deal damage, meaning that the buff will reset very quickly outside of combat.
With Beetle Shell [ ]

- 5% melee critical hit chance
- 11% melee damage
- 6% melee speed
- 6% movement speed
- Significantly higher chance that enemies will target the wearer
- Beetle Endurance defensive buff: When the player avoids taking damage, this buff reduces damage taken on the next hit by 15%, with further boosts to 30% and 45% if the player continues to avoid damage for a longer duration. The buff gets first applied after 3 seconds from taking damage, and will then increase after another 3 seconds. When the player takes damage thereafter, each hit lowers the boost applied to the next hit by one step. This buff features a visual effect showing one to three beetles flying around the player, signifying the 15%, 30%, or 45% damage reduction boost currently in effect.
Crafting the full set with one chest piece requires 18 Beetle Husks and a full set of Turtle armor (54 Chlorophyte Bars (or 324 pieces of Chlorophyte Ore), and 3 Turtle Shells). Crafting all four pieces from scratch requires 26 Beetle Husks, 78 Chlorophyte Bars (or 468 pieces of Chlorophyte Ore), and 4 Turtle Shells.
An in-depth look at a Northeast solar installer and financier. Trinity Solar
Today, in our article about Trinity Solar reviews, we look at what actual customers say about them, common praises and complaints, and whether or not you should work with them.
Trinity Solar is a family-owned solar financier and installer working in six states throughout the Northeast, including New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Founded in 1994 as an AC/heating company, they shifted FOCUS to solar in 2004 and now employs over 1,000 individuals.
Trinity offers cash purchases, loans, solar leases, and power purchase agreements (PPAs), as well as a unique financing offer they call “same-as-cash.” With this option, they’ll install your system for no money down and you pay the loan back in 6 to 12 months.
The cool part about this offer is that they actually charge you no interest. This allows you to avoid that huge upfront payment and break it down into more manageable (albeit still high) monthly payments without any additional fees. Pretty sweet offering if you ask us.
However, financing options, the number of employees, and level of experience don’t matter if a company can’t provide great customer experiences. Let’s take a look at actual customer reviews to see if you should really work with Trinity Solar.
#1 Overview of Trinity Solar Reviews
First, let’s take a wide look at Trinity Solar’s rating on a few different review platforms to get an idea of how customers feel (review numbers current as of September 2017).
Best Company (4.6 out of 10 stars based on 75 reviews)
On review website Best Company, customers gave Trinity Solar a very poor 4.6 out of 10 stars (based on 75 reviews). Rating broke down as such:
- 0 stars: 33 reviewers
- 1 to 2 stars: 5 reviewers
- 3 to 5 stars: 3 reviewers
- 6 to 7 stars: 2 reviewers
- 8 to 9 stars: 5 reviewers
- 10 stars: 27 reviewers
As you can see, a whopping 44% of reviewers gave Trinity Solar absolutely zero stars. Reviews of solar installers typically follow this dichromatic pattern, with people handing out either 0-star reviews or 10-star reviews. For the majority of installers, however, most reviews fall on the positive side.
I’ll be honest, this rating is somewhat alarming. Let’s take a look at a few more platforms to see what other reviewers say.
Solar Reviews (3.47 out of 5 stars based on 38 reviews)
Trinity Solar actually fares much better on the review site Solar Reviews, raking in a solid 3.47 stars out of 5, based on 38 reviews. Like Best Company, reviews are either extremely positive or extremely negative, but this time the balance is flipped, with positive reviews tipping the scales:
In contrast to their Best Company score, 60% of reviewers on Solar Reviews gave Trinity Solar 5 stars, denoting an ‘excellent’ experience.
What’s going on here? How can reviews be so bad on one site, but so great on another? Let’s think this through.
Solar companies that work in several states, by necessity, have to hire numerous sales, support, and installation crews to cover that wide area. Remember how Trinity Solar has 1,000 employees? Well, some of those employees are great, and others are not so great – just like in any business. Great employees can handle problems easily when they come up, a frequent occurrence in the solar industry.
Unmotivated employees or employees in disorganized organizations can lack the skills, training, or interest to fix problems quickly, and projects can often sit for weeks or months without being touched (trust me, as a former project manager at a national solar installer, I know what goes on behind the scenes).
How do you know if you’ll have a great experience with a solar company? You need to learn everything you can about your local branch, as they’re the ones you’ll actually be dealing with. There are a couple ways to do this. The best option is to talk to friends or family who’ve worked with that branch before. Face to face recommendations are almost always a safe bet.
If you don’t know anyone who’s worked with Trinity Solar, or any other company before, the website Yelp allows users to review not just the company as a whole, but individual branches as well! Let’s take a look to see what people say about local Trinity Solar branches.
New Jersey Branch: 2.5 out of 10 stars based on 7 reviews
Massachusetts Branch: 1 out of 10 stars based on 2 reviews
Connecticut Branch: 1 out of 10 stars based on 2 reviews
Yikes. Yelp reviews for Trinity Solar aren’t good. On first glance, you might be thinking “Well, that’s it. I’m done. Let’s move on to another company,” but there are a few caveats to these low numbers:

First, there’s simply not enough reviews to come to any useful conclusions. It’s good for a little bit of insight, but we really can’t base any decisions on these.
Second, upon reading the actual reviews on Yelp, we discover that many reviewers never even worked with Trinity Solar. They only gave poor reviews for disrespectful and annoying sales tactics via phone or door-to-door. This obviously doesn’t bode well for the company as a whole, but it should be noted these reviewers are not actual customers of Trinity Solar.
Even still, these reviews are a definite red flag. It’s of course a small sampling, but there’s not even one positive review in the whole lot!

#2 Analysis of Trinity Solar Reviews
As mentioned before, reviews of Trinity Solar follow the pattern that most solar installers fall into – an almost balanced mix of really positive reviews and really negative reviews.
Typically, you just want to see that more customers have had great experiences working with the company than negative experiences. In the case of Trinity Solar, that’s simply not the case.
But before we decide how we feel about them, let’s look at what individual customers are saying.
#3 Common Trinity Solar Compliments
Of those reviewers that report a positive experience, they typically praise the quality of the installation and professionalism of the installers. Here are a few highlights from recent reviews:
Review from Best Company praising her installers’ professionalism and friendliness:
Trinity Solar installers were professional, informative, and helpful. The office called to ask if I’d like to move up my install date due to a cancellation which I appreciated. The installers arrived, introduced themselves and came ready to work. Very little noise. While they installed the racking system, the electricians worked in the attic and garage. Very easy process over 2 days. No mess. Very friendly and happy crew.
Here’s another reviewer from Best Company, again singing praises on the installation quality:
Installation took 1 full day [and] they even added support beams in my attic for the roof. They left the premises spotless.
And one more from Solar Reviews:
The install team were all very professional and a pleasure to work with. I recommend the company highly.
Other reviewers praised their salesperson or project manager, but those were a bit spotty. Overall, Trinity Solar is able to bring good installation practices to the table.
#4 Common Trinity Solar Complaints
Now let’s move on to complaints. By far the most common complaints revolved around aggressive and shady sales tactics (specifically, the old ‘bait and switch’).
That’s not all, though. As mentioned in our summary of Yelp reviews above, some people hated the sales harassment so much that they went online just to leave a negative review – after only a 5-minute discussion on their front porch! Other reviewers mention Trinity Solar’s general disorganization.
Here’s a reviewer from SolarReviews describing his 6 months wait to turn his system on after installation:
My salesman was a great guy and the people on the phone were the nicest most polite people. Then the problems started… dozens of phone calls and we need to come out and check this and that etc… annoying but ok. Then the evening before install I get a call that we didn’t get a permit…. and then they had to delay again a couple weeks later. Finally in June they install and then call me a month later to tell me the bank they were using went under. I found out later that this all happened months prior and they installed my system without telling me. Now I’m dealing with Sun nova which is another bank and its been 6 months and my system is still not working…
Here’s a Best Company review describing their bait-and-switch after installation:
I feel we were given the bait and switch tactic. We signed, they installed, and then they sent us a new contract with their new finance company. They said it was the same thing. I was on vacation and tired of them bugging me about it so I was foolish and just signed the new agreement. It is NOT the same as the original. We got screwed.
Another complaint about bait-and-switching from a Yelp customer:
Beware of bait and switch. They cancelled my installment date twice. When I cancelled my service they called back and offered me 500 and told me they switched finance companies and I would have a lower rate. What they neglected to tell me was I was also going to have to pay a 123 monthly fee. I cancelled all together. They tried to convince me I had a 126 fee in my first contract, but I emailed them a copy and asked where I had agreed to that. Only then did he admit I hadn’t. I then read reviews where this is a common thing for them. I feel like we dodged a bullet
Lastly, here’s a review from Yelp on Trinity Solar’s aggressive sales tactics:
Two trinity solar salesmen came to my door to solicit solar energy on 12 May 2017. They were rude and aggressive in their sales pitch and general manner. They would not take “no” for an answer. If they ever come to my door again, I will call the police.
While their installation practices are good, it looks like Trinity Solar has some serious problems they need to work on.
#5 Trinity Solar Reviews vs Other Solar Company Reviews
We’ve looked at overall review scores and dug into the individual reviews, but Trinity Solar still isn’t faring too well. Before passing judgment, let’s look at one final component to our mega-review of Trinity Solar: how do they compare to other installers?
Unfortunately, it’s just not looking too good. Let’s compare them to the two biggest residential solar installers in the US, Sunrun, and SolarCity, on the review platforms above.
Best Company
Trinity Solar : 4.6 out of 10 based on 75 reviews
Sunrun: 7.2 out of 10 based on 265 reviews
SolarCity: 5.5 out of 10 based on 426 reviews
Solar Reviews
Trinity Solar: 3.47 out of 5 stars based on 38 reviews
Sunrun: 3.8 out of 5 based on 10 reviews
SolarCity: 2.43 out 5 based on 101 reviews
Looking at the above reviews, you can see that – besides one – Trinity Solar sees lower reviews than the other installers on both platforms (though beyond Sunrun’s fantastic Best Company review score, they’re all pretty low).
than anything else, this really shows the poor customer experience prevalent across the solar industry in general. But even with these low scores across the board, Trinity Solar is right in there with the pack, or even lower.
I don’t know about you, but I think I just cemented how I feel about Trinity Solar.
#6 Should You Work with Trinity Solar?
First off, I don’t like to disparage any solar installer. As a former installer and project manager at several installation companies, I know that installing solar can be a messy, complicated experience involving dozens of people for just a single project.
That being said, however, there are companies out there with the right experience and training to be able to roll with the punches, stay flexible, and still provide great customer service. The reviews for Trinity Solar are simply stacked against them. There are too many negative reviews and too many stories of truly awful sales tactics to warrant us giving them a thumbs up.
If you’re looking for big installers in the Northeast, check out other companies like RGS Energy that work in the same general areas and see much better reviews. Better yet, talk to friends and family with solar to see who they worked with and if they had a great experience – you might find a company you’d never have heard of otherwise!
We obviously hope Trinity Solar can get their act together and start selling and installing quality systems, but in the meantime, you might want to look elsewhere.
