QUESTIONS ANSWERS
Can I connect a 3rd or 4th solar panel into the wind port in my 1800 watt generator? I have an extra solar cord connector Can I also connect a 3rd 4th panel into the wind port in my 3600 watt generator?
Hi Wanda, Thank you for your query. Although the solar and the wind port look the same, the wind port can only support a wind turbine, due to the built-in charge controllers present. If you have any follow-up questions, you may reach our support directly via (800) 203-7516, chat, and or email us at support@naturesgenerator.comWe’ll be more than happy to assist you!
Does it have safety feature like a breaker or just a basic fuse? What is max amperage it can handle when running equipment off of it? (I.e. a mini-welder with 20-30 amp duty cycle?)

I own the platinum bundle (1 generator, 1 battery pack, and 3 panels). What is the recommended and supported BTU capacity that I can hook up to this bundle that would provide a full day (10-12 hours) worth of usage in the event of a power outage. Thank you!
I appreciate your time reaching us. It will depend on how many BTUs is it. Honestly, it won’t help your AC run 10. 12 hours. Your generator might be having a hard time sustaining its wattage consumption.

I’m with a city in CA, and we just purchased 6 of these generators (1800w) with some of our Homeland grant funds. I’m putting together what I hope is a simple guide for our employees. I’ve seen data that a laptop can be powered for 12 hours. Can we use basic math and say that, if a separate laptop is plugged into each of the three outlets, these devices will each run for some 4-hours?
I appreciate your time reaching us. You are absolutely correct! It will run for 4 hours each.
Please let me know if you have any other concerns and I’ll be more than happy to assist you.

I have had the Natures Generator and two pods for a couple of years and I love it! My question is around the charging Watts. Due to cloudy weather, I am never close to the 200 watts during charging of the generator or pods. If I use a 300 watt panel and I have a sunny day, will I damage the unit or does it have a safety device built in that will only allow for the 200 watts in charging power?
Hello Kevin, Thanks for your inquiry.
A 300 watts solar panel might be possible if you have Nature’s generator Elite (Black and green in color), but if you have the standard system (White and green in color) it can only handle up to 200 watts of solar charging, anything more than 200 watts will not be safe for the generator.
Should you have any other concerns, please email us at support@naturesgenerator.com
Thanks, Nature’s Generator Support Team
Hi Dawn, thank you for reaching out. Yes, the Generator can be charged using the 12V DC outlet available on its front panel. However, please be advised that it’s not designed to quickly charge the Generator. It’s still best to use the AC, Solar, and wind inputs for charging. If you have more questions, kindly send us an email at support@naturesgenerator.com/
About your inquiry on what unit is best for running a 5000 BTU AC, Our standard generator alone can run a 5000 BTU AC but the run time will be very limited, at most the AC will only run for an average of 30 minutes. 1 hour. You might want to check the system that we specially designed for small ACT units. I am shopping for wind turbines to use with Nature’s Generator 1800 WATT, I just purchased and wanted to know what is important in the selection as far as connectors, output or any other considerations. Are there some kinds of wind turbines that wouldn’t work with Nature’s Generator?
Nature’s Generator wind turbine is made with a quality cast aluminum alloy body that provides protection from natural elements and its sturdy design provides versatile use on land, water, or wherever you decide to install the wind turbine Nature’s Generator wind turbine comes included with a 100 ft. 12 AWG UL wind turbine cable for connection to Nature’s Generator- turbine designed to mount on a nominal 1.5 in. schedule 40 steel tubing or piping (tubing/piping not included) For wind turbine if you will look for other kinds of the turbine as long as it has the same connector that we use on our turbine you can connect it on your generator.

Hello, your systems are very interesting. I’m curious to use this system for motorcycle racing applications that require the continuous maintenance warming of tires. Warmers typically run 300-700 watts continuous, and 1000 watts peak, and are designed to work with small gas generators, approx 2000 watts. How long would the base system run? How much expansion via solar, power pod, or wind would it take to make it stable ( no pause for charging )? Additionally, if I have 500 watts of wind and solar coming into your system, can I pull 500 watts out via AC? What is your overall efficiency?
If you have 300-700 watts continuous, out Nature’s generator elite (1200watts) will give you approximately 1-2 hours of continuous runtime. Power Pod will give you an expansion of additional 1200watts and for panels and turbines 100watts each. You can connect 3 panels to each pod. Nature’s Generators comes included with a standard AC cord that can be used for connecting the Generators into the standard wall outlet. You then can connect whatever items you want to keep running into the Generator’s AC outlets so that they can remain on whenever the power may go out.
Should you have any other concern please email us directly at support@naturesgenerator.com

Will this unit work with a solar panel with these specs? Rated power: 100W Open circuit voltage (Voc): 21.6V Max power voltage (Vpm): 17.3V Short circuit current (Isc): 6.17A Working current (Iop): 5.78A Output Tolerance: ±3%
That panel should work, you would also need our 50ft solar panel cable in order to connect the panel to our generator.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
If my battery needs replacement on my initial unit (not the power pod) can I drop one of your 100 ah batteries in it instead of the 60 ah battery?
It would work with a larger battery, but it might not fit inside the generator. With the inverter inside the generator as well, it leaves little room and why we went with the 60Ah battery.
Thanks,Nature’s Generatot Support Team
You can technically install it anywhere indoor you would like. It would all depend where the items you are looking to power are located.

I purchased a solar generator (mentioned in this email thread and got it just fine. charged it fully 15 hours overnight, then used it in my camper powering only a box fan for 3 hours then it ran out of charge. i’ve tried to plug it in to recharge and nothing electric comes on at all. fuses in back are fine, AC power is fine getting to solar generator but nothing on panel lights up to indicate it’s recharging! It sounds like the battery storage / voltage is to low so it is not activating the chargers, both solar or AC. I would suggest trying to “jump” the battery to bring the voltage up and be able to recharge it. To do so you would need to remove the top of the Nature’s Generator, 4 bolts on each corner and the two bolts on the handle (if you have the cart installed). This will grant you full access to the battery and you will need jumper cables to connect the generator battery to another battery. You can connect it to a vehicle battery jump the battery that route. Once you do this, it will send voltage to the generator battery and start charging, you will see the LCD screen on the generator turn on and the battery indicator will start moving up and down. Leave it connected for about 1 min and then connected it to the wall AC or solar panel and it should start charging. Thank you,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Our systems are not EMP Hardened.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
What is the lowest level of battery we should not let our charge get below? Also if we let it run all the way out is that true that it will then not take a charge without jump starting it?
Our Nature’s Generator does have protection to stop providing power when the battery is low and it does not let it get to a dangerous place where you would not be able to recharge it.
What sometimes happens is the generator stops providing power and starts beeping letting you know the battery is low so you can disconnect what you have connected and shut the system down to recharge, unfortunately when this happens sometimes the customers do not recharge the battery right away and let it sit for some time (weeks or months), thus the battery still depleting and the voltage getting really low.
At this point the battery in the Nature’s Generator would need to be jump in order to get the voltage higher and activate the chargers. As long as you charge the Nature’s Generator when the battery is low, you will not have to do this.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Unfortunately, at 750W, our Nature’s Generator would only be able to provide power for about 15 min or so before the system shuts down due to low battery. At which point you would need to rehcarge the battery completely before being able to use the toaster again.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Thanks for reaching out to us!
That would all depend on the wattage / power your oil furnace requires to operate. This would determine if the generator would be able to power it and if it can, it will help determine how long it would power it for.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
How long can you run a refrigerator? Also if you leave the solar panel connect how long can you run the refrigerator? Thanks
One Nature’s Generator alone on a full battery would be able to power a standard home fridge anywhere from 8 to 12 hours continously before the system shuts down. Having solar panels connected will help during the day time as long as the panels are getting good sunlight, but come the evening and night fall you will only have the 8 to 12 hours and then you will need to recharge the battery to full.
Thanks,Nature’s Generator Support Team
How long do you estimate one pod with 3 panels would power a fridge freezer? Assuming you’re charging via solar panels as you power the appliance?

Hello, Nature Power, we have two Nature Power 1800 generators. They’ve worked perfectly since hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, but as of a couple of days ago, one of them has stopped charging and nothing will work on it: lights etc. We changed the position of the generator to a different wall-plug. Nothing. The orange power light stays on, then flickers, and nothing charges. Does this mean the generator is ‘dead? Thanks for any help you can give. Michael Sharp

What is the average watt per hour for solar charging? I understand it depends on sun but in one post someone was given an answer of 5-7 watts per hour at 10mph for the turbine. I’m trying to see which is faster so I know what to use more of. Thanks.
Thank you for reaching out to us.
The solar panel charges up to 100 watts per hour when in use. The solar panel will tend to provide a more stable recharge as long as it is in the direct sun, as the wind turbine depends on the wind and would need to be consistent wind.

Thanks for reaching out to us and for your interest in our product.
Unfortunately, our generator would not be able to sustain power for all day use. We know that electric kettles require a lot of power and the one you mentioned state is needs 1500 watts, at that power rate it would deplete the battery quickly.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.

If I plug my camper into this, will it be able to power the microwave and AC? The trailer has a 30 amp service.
Thanks for reaching out to us.
In order to run the AC system, you would need a to add additional Power Pods, this is due to the large amount of wattage AC systems require. If you try to run it on the Generator alone, it will not give you a long run time. As for the microwave, this would deplete the battery almost instantly. Unfortunately, microwaves do require a large amount of voltage in order to operate.

When replacing batteries in the future. Can lithium batteries be used as replacements Thanks Christopher
Thank you for reaching out to us and for your interest in our products!
Unfortunately, you would not be able to replace the battery with a lithuim version, as our system was designed around the AGM SLA battery so the battery management system is different.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can asssit with.

Run times with Nature´s Generator means that only one of those equipments will last that time? (i.e. Refrigerator 8. 12 hours. Only if the Refrigerator is conected to Nature´s Generartor)
Thanks for reaching out to us and for your interest in our product.
Yes, the run times displayed are based on the single item connected and the battery is at a full charge. The more items connect, the less run time you will have because it would be drawing more power.
Please let us know if there is anything else that we can assist with.
Thank you,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Hello, can the Generators be daisy chained together to add more wattage capacity? One generator outputs 1800 watts, two would output 3600 watts? Thanks
Thank you for your interest in our products!
You can daisy chain Power Pods to the Nature’s Generator to add more run time and add additional Power Pods if needed, but unfortunately, you are not able to daisy chain to Nature’s Generators together to add more wattage output.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.
Thank you,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Our Nature’s Generator and Nature’s Power Pod have a 200 watt charge controller, so you would be able to connect two 100 watt solar panels to the generator and each power pod. In order to do this, you would need the to make sure you have one of our 50ft solar panel cable and am MC4 Branch Connector.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.
Thank you,Nature’s Generator Support Team
Thank you for your interest in our product!
Yes, this would be able to power a 9 amp 110 volt air conditioning unit, but unfortunately it would only be able to power it for about 5 to 10 min. At 990 watts, the AC system will draw the power very rapidly from our Nature’s Generator.
If you are looking for a system that will be able to power that size AC System, we do currently offer a syster we put together for large air conditioning systems, please see below.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.

Is there a problem associated with plugging in a 110 v. hot tub pump that has a GFCI plug into the ac output of the Nature generator’s inverter? Otherwise, the running watts of the pump is 850 watts and the standby power is
Thank you for your interest in our product!
There will be no problem connecting the hot tub pump to the generator, it would be able to power it. The downside is, at 850 watts our Nature’s Generator would only be able to power the pump for about 10 min or so. To figuere out how large of a system you would need to power the pump, we would need to know how long it would be on for.
Please feel free to reach out to us at support@naturesgenerator.com should you need further assistance.

Can the generator be charged by the 3 ways (Ac, solar and wind) atte the same time? Ir would be charged faster?
Is it using 1800 watts of power to charge itself when its plugged in to your home outlet or does it only use a smaller wattage to charge?
Hello: Thank you for contacting Nature’s Generator! The 1800 watts denotes the amount of available power through the inverter. The unit when plugged into your home outlet, will draw approximately 90 watts of power to recharge the generator. Hopefully this helps to answer your question and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any additonal questions. Thanks, Nature’s Generator
Unfornately cannot. 100Ah is too big to fit into Nature’s Generator, but what you can do is to have a Power Pod that has 100Ah battery to daisy chain Nature’s Generator. And Power Pod can be stacked right on top of Nature’s Generator. Thanks
It is PWM. We have done the testing on PWM v.s. MPPT and concluded there is not much performance difference on 100 watt solar panel or 2 of 100watt solar panels. Thank you for the interest in Nature’s Generator.
I would Like to install this on my 25 foot boat. Is there a way of hooking it up to the alternator?(perhaps in series with my starting and house batteries) I also have a pro mariner charger, would this be able to be attached to that?
The Nature’s Generator was already built in 12V 60Ah Sealed Lead Acid battery. If your existing batteries are also 12V, you may be able to daisy chain them through the expansion port on the back of Nature’s Generator. While the alternator charges your existing batteries, it also charges the battery in Nature’s Generator after it is daisy chained.
Nature’s Generator has 1800watt pure sine wave on three AC output ports. You may be able to use Nature’s Generator as the source of power supply for the pro mariner charger. Thank you for the interest in Nature’s Generator.
this is for this item SKU: HKNGGN, can It be used all day about 7 hours on a s,all ice cream maker 1/3 HP/ 7 Amps 115V-60Hz 530w? thank you g_beas@hotmail.com
Unfortunately, it cannot assuming the ice cream maker is working continuously. Continous 530watt for 7 hours mean 3710 watt hours (530watt x 7 hours = 3710 watt hours). Nature’s Generator has 720 watt hour capacity and Power Pod has 1200 watt hour capacity. To make it work, you need addtional 3 power pods to connector the Nature’s Generator. Thank you for the interest in Nature’s Generator.
Can I replace the 60Ah AGM battery with a 75Ah Lithium-ION Deep Cycle Smart Battery if the size and connectors are the same?
It is not recommended, becuase the internal protections is taylored to the AGM batteries. It may or may not work optimally with the other type batteris. Thank you for the interest in Nature’s Generator.
Can I run a blender with this too make smoothies and use a toasters oven to. Like magic bullet (900w) or a (1000w) toasters oven for quick uses.
Hi. Thank you for being interested in Natue’s Generator. A quick use of high wattage devices like blender or toaster is fine. Nature’s Generator has certain tolerance to accommodate higher than the rated 1800 watts, but it is not recommended to run the devices at one time that have the total output more than the rated 1800 wattts. Thank you
Hello. the typical life span of the SLA battery in the Nature’s Generator is about 500 to 800 cycles.
What is the continuous power output and for how long? And is this a deep cell battery? For a cabin. Thank you! Thank you
The Nature’s Generator has a built-in inverter with a maximum output of 1800W. The built-in battery is a 60Ah/720Wh Sealed Lead Acid battery.
For when it is time to replace batteries: are the batteries an industry standard that can be obtained multiple places, or is it a custom battery that can only be purchased from you? The question applies to both the generator and the power pack.
Although we always recommend that replacement batteries for the Nature’s Generator and Nature’s Generator Power Pod be sourced through us when it’s time for replacement, sourcing them elsewhere is still an option.
When sourcing elsewhere, we recommend you pay attention to the following details:1. Ensure that you source a sealed lead acid battery with the same capacity. 2. Ensure the battery you source has campatible terminals.3. Ensure the battery size is appropriate to fit inside the Generator or Power Pod
Can I attached additional Solar Panels to the Wind Input port, since the Solar Input port is limited to 200 Watts? I would like to achieve a quicker recharge time by having (5) 100 Watts Solar Panels attached to the Generator, two on the Solar Input and three on the Wind Input.
Hello, you cannot connect solar panels to the wind input on the Nature’s Generator. Although the solar and wind inputs may look the same, they do not support the same cable connectors. If you are looking to increase your recharge ability using the wind input you can connect up to two wind turbines in addition to the two solar panels.

Which Power Station Is The Best For Your Needs? The Rockpals 300W Or 500W?
The Rockpals 300W/280Wh (click to see latest version on Amazon) and 500W/540Wh (click to see the latest version on Amazon) are two popular power stations, also known as solar generators, from the same company.
Both of them are portable, lightweight, and great portable batteries that can be brought camping or be used at home during power outages.
But how do they compare, and which one is the best for your needs?
Today we’re comparing the two to make the differences more clear than what the names tell us.
If you’re interested in power stations for camping, you should check out my post on the best ones here.
Let’s start by comparing the two on the table, then we’ll go through what the differences mean in practice.
I’ll also share some of my solar panel recommendations for these power stations in case you want to be able to recharge the battery when away from home.
Lastly, I’ll share some of the best alternative power stations to the Rockpals 300W and 500W made by other companies.
Related Product: Recharge your power station with a solar panel. The Twelseavan 120W (click to view on Amazon) is compatible right out of the box with all power stations in this article.
Rockpals 300W Vs 500W – Specifications Compared
Last update on 2023-06-29 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
Similarities Differences Explained
Battery Capacity
The battery capacity is exactly what it sounds like, how much battery power the power station can store at most.
There is a big difference between the capacity of these two power stations, 280 versus 505 watt-hours.
That’s a 93% increase, which means that the Rockpals 500W will power your devices for 93% longer.
To understand what it means in everyday life, let’s imagine that we have a laptop with a 60W power brick.
The Rockpals 300W power station will charge the laptop for almost four hours (280Wh/60W0.85=3.97 hours).
The reason we multiply by 0.85 is to take the inverter efficiency into consideration.
The Rockpals 500W power station will charge the same laptop for about 7.16 hours (505Wh/60W0.85=7.16 hours).
A good way to know how much battery capacity you’re going to need is to make a list with every device you need to power/charge and for how long (in hours).
A 60W device uses about 60 watt-hours per hour, so if you know the wattage of your chargers you can easily figure out how much capacity you’ll need.
For example, a list of my devices would look like this.
Device | Watts | Hours per day | Total watt-hours required |
Laptop | 60 | 3 | 180 (603) |
Phone | 10 | 1 | 10 (101) |
Tablet | 10 | 2 | 20 (102) |
Lights | 10 | 4 | 40 (104) |
250Wh |
What the table tells us is that I am going to use 250 watt-hours a day based on my devices and hours of use.
Since I am going to be using the inverter to power my devices, we also need to take the inverter efficiency into account.
The inverter is about 85% efficient, so we’ll add that onto our total watt-hours: 2501.18=295 watt-hours.
If you’re only going to be charging devices via USB or DC, the efficiency will be slightly higher, but I still recommend taking it into consideration when calculating.
So I should choose a power station that has at least 295 watt-hours of battery capacity, which means that the Rockpals 300W wouldn’t quite be large enough for me.
Remember that you can use the battery while it’s charging.
One way to make the Rockpals 300W work for me would be to connect a solar panel that would recharge the battery during the day or at least replenish some of the battery power that I have used.
This would only work if I was using the battery while the sun was out and didn’t use all of my devices at night.
Inverter Rating
The inverter in a power station changes the 12V DC battery power to 120V AC power and lets you use regular 120V devices via the AC outlet that looks like a household outlet.
There is a difference between the two here as well since the Rockpals 300W has a 300W inverter and the 500W has a 500W inverter. That’s a 66% increase in power output.
Well, if you have a 400W device, the 500W inverter will power it but not the 300W in the smaller power station since it exceeds the max output the inverter can handle.
Or if you have 10 50W lights, you can power all of them with the Rockpals 500W (1050W=500W), while the Rockpals 300W can only power six of them (650W=300W).
Whether you need the larger inverter or not depends on what you plan on powering and how many devices at the same time.
Even though there is only one outlet on the smaller model, you can use a power strip to connect more than one 120V device.
The Rockpals 500W has two outlets, but the 500W inverter rating is the total wattage they will output together, not separately.
You might’ve noticed that the inverter rating has two numbers, a continuous watt and a surge watt.
The surge watts is how much the inverter can output for a very short time, usually less than 30 seconds.
When considering which power station to buy, you should ignore the surge watt rating and FOCUS on the continuous wattage which is what will matter the most in day-to-day use.
As mentioned above, the Rockpals 500W has two AC outlets versus the single outlet on the 300W model.
You can use a power strip with either of them to power several devices at once, but it’s convenient to have two on the larger model.
There are 3 USB and a USB-C PD ports on both.
The USB-C PD on both of the Rockpals power stations can input and output power.
Which means you not only can charge your devices with it, you can also charge the battery in the power stations.
The 300W USB-C is rated for 30 watts and the 500W is rated for 45 watts.
Both models have a QC 3.0 port. Note that your device must support QC for it to utilize the faster charging. Other USB devices can still be used.
There are five DC ports on both models. Both have a 12V cigarette port rated at 12V 8A but the 500W is the only one that has a regulated 12 volt outlet.
Last but not least, the input port is different.
The Rockpals 300W uses a less common 2 Pin port, while the 500W uses a 5.5×2.5mm port as an Anderson connector.
It’s easier to find compatible solar panels for the 500W model since the connector is more common.
The input ports are different, and the 500W can handle slightly more input watts when charging.
The 500W model has a power brick that you must carry around, while the 300W model has the power management built-in and only requires the AC charging cable.
It takes 6-7 hours to charge both via the included wall and car charger.
The 500W model charges slightly faster with solar panels and can be fully charged in 6-7 hours with a 100W panel, while the 300W takes 8-9 hours with the same 100W panel.
Both can also charge via the USB-C PD. 30 watts for the 300W version and 45 watts for the 500W version.
Both of the Rockpals portable power station’s screens show the battery percentage, battery bars, time to empty/full, output watts, active ports, and temperature warnings.
Size Weight
There is a clear weight difference between the two, 7.7 versus 12.5 pounds.
The larger model is also nearly twice as large in terms of total volume.
Rockpals includes a wall charger, car charger, and MC4 to DC adapter with both models.
No solar panels are included with either battery.
Other Similarities Differences
Both power stations use lithium batteries and MPPT charge controllers.
They can both be used while charging and use a pure sine wave inverter.
There are lights built into both on the front of the batteries that are turned on with a button (two buttons on the Rockpals 300W).
On top of each, there is a built-in handle.
Last but not least, both power stations have holes on the side for ventilation.
Conclusion – Which Rockpals Power Station Is The Best For You?
So we’ve made the differences and similarities clear between the two solar generators. Now you need to figure out what you need.
Do you need the more portable and lightweight option that won’t run your devices as long?
Or are you willing to lose some portability for an additional outlet that is more powerful overall and lasts almost twice as long?
For my needs, the Rockpals 500W (click to view on Amazon) is the better power station due to the battery capacity on its own.
At most, I only need to power my laptop, phone, tablet, Playstation 4, and TV.
I would be fine with the 300W inverter on the smaller model, but being able to power my devices for almost twice as long before recharging the battery is worth it to me.
If you only need to charge phones, tablets, CPAP machines, and lights, the Rockpals 300W (click to view on Amazon) will most likely be enough.
But if you run a CPAP machine all night it might drain most of the battery and you would have to have a way to recharge the battery during the day.
If you live in an RV, car or van and have a solar panel on top of your vehicle, the Rockpals 500W would be the more safe choice since you would have that extra battery capacity for cloudy days.
You also wouldn’t have to rely on sunshine as much to recharge the smaller battery every day.
Now, maybe you’ve come to the conclusion that not even the 500W is enough for you, then I recommend checking out the best alternative power stations down below.

Since both power stations include the MC4 to DC adapter, you have a lot of options when it comes to compatible solar panels.
Rockpals makes panels that come in several sizes.
The 60W (click to view on Amazon) and 100W (click to view on Amazon) are two popular portable options that are directly compatible with both.
Two great panels that come with MC4 connectors are the Renogy 50W Eclipse solar panel and the Renogy 100W solar panel.
Best Alternative Power Stations/Solar Generators
Jackery makes great power stations with reliable inverters, regulated 12V outputs, common inputs, and a great display.
Three models I recommend are the Explorer 240, Explorer 500, and Explorer 1000.
The nrgGo 400 is another great option with two AC outlets, USB C PD, and a great display that shows the most relevant information.
