Electrical / Software features
Low frequency inverter:
The Rebel features a low frequency inverter. Low frequency inverters are extra heavy duty. They use powerful transformers (lots of copper!) which makes them more reliable and sturdier than the cheap high frequency inverter’s MOSFETs. MOSFETs use electronic switching and are more prone to damage, particularly at high power levels.
- Low frequency inverters have a much higher tolerance for harsh and humid environments, making our solar generators ideal for use in emergency situations. Plus, our Rebel’s inverter has conformal coating on the PCB, further reducing the potential water/moisture damage to the electronics.
- Low frequency inverters have a higher surge output than high frequency inverters. (300% surge versus typical 200%) For example: The 4,000W Rebel has a 12,000W surge rating.
- The surge rating of 300% is for a full 20 seconds! Almost all solar generators except the Rebel have a surge rating of about 10 milliseconds to 2 seconds.
All models except the 3000W include the low frequency inverter.

Rebel Advanced Features
The Rebel Advanced Features are not intended for beginners or novice users. However, all it takes is a little bit of reading and some patience to become an advanced user. The following features can be accessed on all Rebel Solar Generators. They are described in detail in the Rebel Inverter Manual, but feel free to ask us if you have any questions.
- Automatic transfer switch operation: This is similar to a conventional UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) used with computers and electronics. This requires the Rebel’s 240VAC input AND240VAC output to be continuously connected to your home or building. Note: The Rebel’s Input is sometimes referred to as Shore power or shore connection. With this feature enabled, your home or building will continuously run on power from the grid until the grid goes down. Within 8 milliseconds of the grid going down, power will be transferred to the Rebel’s inverter/battery off-grid system only. Visit Rebel Inverter Manual section 2.5.5 for more details.
- Gas Generator Auto-start for backup charging: (Only works with gas generators that have auto-start function). When the Rebel’s battery voltage drops to 10.0V DC (21.0V DC on 24V models), the Rebel will send a signal to start your gas generator. The gas generator will remain on until the batteries are fully charged. This allows you to maximize your free solar/wind power, but still have the reliability and dependability of a gas generator. The auto-start feature is completely automatic, so no more waking up in the middle of the night to start up the generator! Visit Rebel Inverter Manual section 2.5.13 for more details.
Combining these two features equips your home or business with the most cutting-edge backup power system available on the market. The system takes advantage of the best of both worlds; free and reliable solar power as primary, but still the option of falling back on traditional gas generator power. These two advanced features (along with Rebel’s other features) will provide a fully automatic backup system that you will never have to think about!

about our lithium batteries
SAFE. COMPATIBLE. POWERFUL.
Cutting Edge Power’s wind and solar lithium-ion battery modules are the best way to pack more power and run time into a smaller space. Leveraging the amazing performance of our lithium cells and the resulting smaller footprint, our battery modules provide up to 450% lifetime and 100% run time over traditional batteries!

The cells are imported from the most reputable cell manufacturers in the world that also supply Tesla and other high performance companies. Cells are arranged in plastic holders. These plastic holders are a custom in-house design and they’re made in our shop. The cells are then welded together using a special machine designed and built by Cutting Edge Power! The plastic holders are then assembled and mounted inside your solar generator. All of this is done in Houston, TX.
Each cell array is continuously monitored by redundant Battery Management Systems (BMS), not just one like most battery manufacturers. If one module were to go out, you would still have the remaining modules in operation. The multiple BMS systems protect all cells against overcharging, overdischarging, as well as overcurrent. They also equalize all the cell voltages and keep the pack running cool.
#2: COMPATIBLE.
PERFECT FOR SOLAR OR WIND TURBINE CHARGING.
Our lithium battery modules will be factory installed in any Cutting Edge Power solar generator when purchased together. Adding a lithium batteries to an existing Cutting Edge Power solar generator is as easy as ordering a pizza with our custom drop downs.
We call them modules, because our entire solar generator product line is modular. We understand sometimes you need testing before you know how many batteries you need. battery modules can easily be added later and it only takes about 5 minutes.
We don’t believe in proprietary connectors or special permanent installations. No other connection or additional assembly on your part is required! Terminals on our battery modules allow you to quickly and easily replace old batteries. You can even replace our batteries with a different type or manufacturer!
Why are they so small, what’s the catch?
Our battery cells were pioneered by the auto industry so they have a high energy density in order to keep cars lightweight and extend their range. This means a smaller battery pack can have up to 2x the run time as a standard SLA battery. Combining the small size and higher energy density, our batteries will maximize your run time in a compact solar generator!
DIYers love our lithium batteries for the small footprint, cool operating temperatures and high energy density!
Only our lithium batteries provide about 450% lifetime and 100% run time over traditional lead acid batteries. Plus, they can do this in about half the size!
Compared with traditional batteries, Cutting Edge Power lithium ion batteries have a higher run time, higher cycle lifetime, better power density and charge faster. They also weigh less than LiFePO4 and a single module can even provide a higher discharge rate than multiple SLA or LiFePO4 batteries! In wind and solar applications, our lithium batteries have proven to be superior against lead acid, NiCd, AND lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries.

Air conditioners require a lot of power to run but are essential to cool down the house especially in the hot days. A lot of energy means it is difficult to run them utilizing solar power. Still, some fine pieces of machinery are able to power air conditioners for up to ten hours (wall units), or more when it comes to portable one. Scroll down to find the best solar generator for air conditioners. You will also determine if all the power generators in the market could run air conditioners or not. Plus, you will learn about the power required to run air conditioners. over, a part of this guide is dedicated to the solar generator for RV air conditioners, given that’s where you’ll need the solar generator the most.
How many watts do air conditioners need to start?
Different air conditioners, depending on the capacity and manufacturer, require different amounts of power to start and run. You could easily find out this information by referring to the specification manual that comes during the purchase. You can also contact the sales for the requirements of power for the particularly made model. Still, here are some rough estimations of the average portable AC and wall units requirements:

How Long Can A Solar Generator Run An Air Conditioner?
Well, it depends on the standard of your air conditioner, i.e., the power required to run the particular air conditioner. If the solar generator features a higher storing capacity, like the ones we recommend later in this guide, then your AC could run as long as three to seven hours constantly. As mentioned earlier, on average — an air conditioner requires 1KW of power to run, and the average solar power generators in the market range from 1KW to 4KW. No matter what, never choose a product whose capacity is less than 1KW when looking for a solar generator for air conditioners. You had better be careful that the solar generator can deliver 3KW of power, as sometimes the air conditioner could demand more and usually would run the air conditioner for a few hours. So, you could consider a low BTU AC unit to run it for more hours. A good solar generator with a reliable battery capacity can run AC units for up to 16 hours. Later in this guide, you will find products that could run AC units even longer.
Our pick for your AC
Here are some of the best solar generators for air conditioners. You may consider any of these depending on your budget and needs. BLUETTI AC200MAX POWER STATION3PV200 PANEL A combination of both power station and solar panels, BLUETTI AC200MAX feartures a battery capacity of 2048W at full charge, which is able to turn an 8000 BTU AC unit for up to 3-7 hours. You will find multiple outlets to power up numerous devices concurrently. One of the coolest things about BLUETTI AC200MAX Power Station is that you could charge the device with the solar panels that come with the purchase. So, regardless of whether you could access the grid’s power or not — BLUETTI AC200MAX will never disappoint you. But besides solar charging, you could conveniently charge the power station in other ways, i.e., via a wall unit, car battery, AC (dual AC plus — solarAC), lead-acid battery, and more. BLUETTI AC3002B300 100% modular, compatible with up to 4xB300, 2400W Unrivaled Solar Input, 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter, 5400W Blazing Input Rate, 24/7 UPS Home Backup, 4 Years Worry-Free Warranty — are some of the features for why would you choose this COMBO to run air conditioners. By offering the option to expand the capacity at will, the entire setup could generate groundbreaking 12288W of power, which is quite enough to fulfill all the electricity needs for days — not just for the air conditioner but for many other devices. The combo is designed to soak up 3000W of power from the solar charging input within 1.5 hours. All in all, BLUETTI AC3002B300 COMBO is enough to power multiple devices for days, not only hours.
Can you use solar generators to run RV AC?
The short answer is yes. With the right setup, you could find that a solar generator is able to run RV air conditioners. Like what we mentioned above, the portable solar generators could run air conditioners (the wall ones that demand much power) for long hours. So, when it comes to an air conditioner incorporated within the RV — you could expect much more efficiency from the solar power station. Still, you will need consider the require power of the air conditioner unit, i.e., how much surge and running power is required by the air conditioner. Most of the air conditioner units for RV in the market require 1700 to 3500 surge and 600 to 1500 running power, so you need to consider a power station that delivers optimum power to run the AC units for up to hours.
What are the benefits of solar on an RV?
Getting off the grid is one of the best ways to cut down the costs of monthly expenditure. So, when it comes to RV — the most significant advantage of using solar power is that you do not have to wait at stations to recharge your batteries and pay for it. But that is not the only benefit of solar power on an RV; you’ll also benefit from:
- Ease of traveling and ‘true’ freedom: most people consider RVs for the ‘freedom to travel.’ Nevertheless, that freedom takes a hit when you have to recharge batteries to run the essential gadgets and devices. Since you’ll have to stick to areas where battery recharge is possible. But that is not the case when it comes to solar-powered RVs; you could turn to any direction without any worry.
- Light on the environment:are you climate-conscious? Well, then what’s wrong with the renewable source of energy.
- Operates in silence: compared to the fuel-generators — the solar-powered stations do not produce any noise nor require you to stop whenever you’ve to recharge the batteries.
Other ways to keep RV cool down
Well, an air conditioner is not the only way to keep your RV cool. You could also consider other ways like:
- Always park the RV under shade — after you’ve charged the solar panels.
- Purchase a fan.
- Stay at an RV campground and avail of their amenities.
FAQ:

Can A Solar Generator/Power Station Run An Air Conditioner?
Today I am going to FOCUS on powering air conditioners with solar generators. Since I can’t go through every single power station and air conditioner out there, let’s talk a little bit about how you can figure it out by reading about the products.
Related Product: I’ve had success running my 13,500 BTU RV AC with the latest EcoFlow Delta Max (click to view on Amazon). You might also want to consider the portable EcoFlow Wave (click to view on Amazon) which is an air conditioner that can be powered with an optional battery.
What A Solar Generator Can And Can’t Do
Solar generators, also known as power stations are 12V batteries in a box with an inverter and a solar charge controller.
They’ve become increasingly popular as large lithium batteries have become more accessible. Lithium has a lot of pros and is lightweight compared to older types of deep cycle batteries, so they’re great for camping or any kind of traveler.
But what is a solar generator capable of? Can it power everything you need?
If you’re here for the quick answer: It depends on what solar generator and air conditioner you want to pair. Check the inverter rating on the solar generator, then how many watts the air conditioner requires.
For RVers with 13,500/15,000 BTU ACs, the answer is most likely no. You can install an EasyStart on your AC which reduces the power the AC requires to start, but I would suggest buying a smaller portable AC or a window unit instead since it still might not be enough when the solar generator is powering other things in your camper as well.
There are portable units like the BLACKDECKER BPACT08WT which is rated at 950 watts. With a power station like the Bluetti AC200P, you would be able to run the AC for almost two hours, or longer if you have solar panels recharging it at the same time.
How much power can a solar generator output?
The most limiting factor to how much a solar generator can power or output is the inverter rating. The inverter changes the battery’s DC power to AC and powers the standard AC outlets (just like the wall outlets in your home or RV). An inverter is only capable of outputting a certain amount of watts though, so this is why the inverter rating is relevant when you want to figure out whether it can operate a specific device or not.
Most lithium batteries are capable of discharging at a high rate, and therefore not limiting the power output like the inverter.
One important thing to know about is that these solar generators usually have 15A outlets, not 20A or 30A RV plugs. A 15A outlet at 120V can only handle 1800 watts on its own (15Ax120V).
This can become a limiting factor even if the battery and the inverter in newer power stations are going to be capable of outputting higher watts. I bet 20A and 30A plugs will become more common in future solar generators.
When you look at a solar generator product description there are a lot of numbers to take in. As an example, let’s take a look at the popular power station Goal Zero Yeti 1400.
You’re told a lot of information just by reading the title of the listing.
Yeti 1400 – This is the name of the product
1425Wh – This is the battery capacity in watt hours. Ah (amp hours) and mAh are two other common ways to talk about the battery capacity.
Talking about Wh (watt hours) isn’t the most common one, but used with power stations since it makes it easy to compare the battery capacity in different power stations.
1500 Watt (3000 Watt Surge) AC Inverter – This is the inverter rating, and how much the Yeti 1400 can output in watts at most when using the two AC outlets.
So which of the above is the one we care about when trying to figure out how much the Yeti 1400 can output? The last one, the AC inverter rating.
The AC inverter rating usually gives you two numbers, in this case, 1500W and 3000W. The latter is the surge watts, which isn’t as relevant as the first number. Surge/peak watts is how much the Yeti could output for a couple of seconds, but not continuously.
The first number is how much it can output continuously without shutting down.
What are the most popular solar generators inverters rated?
Here are a couple of popular power stations and their respective inverter rating.
The No products found. – 2000W/3500W surge
The No products found. – 2000W/3500W surge
How many watts do air conditioners require to start/run?
So now we know how to figure out how powerful the inverter is on a power station. Now we need to find out how many watts the air conditioner uses.
Here are some rough numbers on how many watts an air conditioner uses based on BTUs.
Each AC is different so the best thing to do is to read the manual, specification, or contact the company directly to figure out starting and running watts. These are just general average guidelines, and higher than what portable ACs or wall units usually require.
15,000 BTU RV AC – 2800-3600 watts to start, 500-1800 to run
13,500 BTU RV AC – 2500-3000 to start, 500-1500 to run
10,000 BTU – 1700-2200 to start, 300-800 to run
7,000 BTU – 1400-2000 to start, 200-700 to run
5,000 BTU – 1000-1500 to start, 100-500 to run
So will any solar generator be able to run your air conditioner? It depends on the air conditioner and how much power it needs.
For example, a portable AC like the No products found. only requires 880 watts. So smaller portable air conditioners or window units would be able to run on the Yeti power station we looked at above.
Conclusion
There are solar generators that will run some AC units. Portable air conditioners like a BLACKDECKER BPACT08WT can run on a solar generator, but I would suggest a solar generator with at least a 2000W inverter, something like the Bluetti AC200P or larger.
The Bluetti would be able to run the BLACKDECKER for almost two hours.
RV air conditioners (13,500/15,000 BTU) require a lot of power to start up and can’t be started with any portable power stations on the market right now unless you had an EasyStart installed on the AC unit.
It’s possible that it still wouldn’t run since other things in your camper would be using some energy, but maybe in 2021, we will see a larger solar generator with a 3000W inverter and a 30A plug that can run an RV AC.
Even If Possible, Is It a Good Idea to Run an Air Conditioner off of a Power Station?
If you manage to start an AC on a power station, it won’t run for very long before the battery has drained completely. It could be worth it if you need to cool down a room for 30 minutes, but it’s not something you would be able to run all day.
As an example, if you power a portable AC like the BLACKDECKER BPACT08WT with a fully charged Yeti 3000 which has a 3024Wh battery.
The AC would run for about 2-2.5 hours. Sure, you could connect 700 watts of solar panels to the Yeti and extend the hours to 5-6 on a sunny day, but that would be a big investment to run an AC.
Whether that’s worth it or not is up to you, and I can see myself using one just to cool down a room on a hot summer evening.
What About A Battery-Powered Air Conditioner?
There are some battery-powered air conditioners on the market.
The EcoFlow Wave (click to view on Amazon) doesn’t include a battery, but a 1kWH battery can be purchased and put underneath the Wave to run it on battery.
One cool thing with the Wave is that it has a solar input, so if you have the optional battery you can connect a solar panel to charge it up.
It’s a 4000 BTU AC, so it isn’t very powerful compared to a 13,500 or 15,000 BTU RV air conditioner, but it can cool down a bedroom or an office at least.

How do you decide wether to go with a yeti 3000 type powerr station or build a separate component system with batelborn type bateris and separate components. Reply
Well it depends on what you plan on using it for and how much time and money you want to invest. If you have experience with these things it might be a better idea to build your own so you can fix it if it breaks, but it’s obviously not going to be the easiest way to go, and it might not be the cheapest. There are limitations to power stations, and for full-time RVers that need to be able to run an air conditioner on solar there aren’t too many options right now, yet there are large inverters and lithium battery banks that are capable of doing it. I have the Black and Decker a/c unit you mentioned, and I am trying to figure out how to power it for up to 8 hours during hot summer nights in the south. I have a very small (10’) trailer with two deep cycle batteries, and I can forego pretty much everything electrical, but I do need a/c. Is there any way to do this? Thanks. Reply
Hello, can someone tell me if I can run the Midea U inverter window AC on an Ecoflow delta pro for at least 8 hours during the night? How do I figure this? Reply
You mentioned the Black Decker rated 950 watt AC may run longer than 2 hours with solar panels (on a sunny day) charging a BuettiAC200P, simultaneously. Do you have an estimate of how much longer the Black Decker may run? Which Solar Panel rating would you be referencing? I understand you would be ball parking your estimation. Reply
Hi, It depends on the CPAP machine and the settings used, the power usage differs a lot. Something like the EcoFlow River Pro (click to view on Amazon) could be enough with its 720Wh, and it’s a great option since it can recharge quickly. But I’d want to make sure the power usage of the CPAP won’t drain the battery too fast before spending money on a power station. It might even be worth buying a watt meter like this one by Kuman (click to view on Amazon). Then you can plug your CPAP into it and check how many watts it uses. If it reads 50W, it will use a little over 50Wh in one hour, or 500Wh over ten hours. Then a 720Wh power station would be enough. Reply

Complete Off-Grid Solar Kit 3200 Watt Solar 12KW 48VDC 120/240 Output | [OGK-1]
Looking for a solar kit that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg just to get installed? Tired of getting outrageous quotes from solar installation companies? Look no further. Our complete off-grid solar kit comes with all of the parts and pieces needed to get up and running with clean, quiet, off-grid solar power.
Although we do recommend having a certified solar installer/master electrician install our off-grid kits, these are meant to be extremely simple to set up and we include a professional wiring diagram/schematic for you to follow – meaning there’s no guessing as to how it’s supposed to be setup.
You might be wondering – is this really all I need? Especially considering some of the we’ve heard our customers getting from other solar installation companies. But the answer is yes. This is a complete off-grid solar power system that includes all of the parts and pieces you’ll need.
What Does Off-Grid Mean?
Great question. It means this system does not tie in with your local power grid/utility company. So there’s no “selling” excess power back to the power company. Off-grid means your system operates 100% independently of the grid. Any excess power you’re making during the day goes right into your 12 batteries included with the kit so that you can run your home / RV / cabin/shop/business all night long when the sun isn’t shining.
Is Off-Grid Better Than Grid-Tie? Or Do I NEED to be tied to the grid?
This is a good question and it really depends on who you ask. Most of our customers are looking to gain “grid independence”. They don’t want to rely on the local power company to keep their lights on and food cold. When you install a grid-tied solar system, this means that if the grid goes down… The solar power on your roof is useless. You NEED batteries on your system to be considered off-grid.
There’s a lot more involved with a grid-tie system (think permitting, AC coupling, remote monitoring, etc.) which typically makes these types of solar power systems much more expensive. Whereas off-grid solar systems require a lot fewer bells and whistles and are much easier to install.
What Comes With This Kit?
Our 3,200 Watt Solar 12KW complete off-grid solar kit outputs 120V / 240V of power (240V is great for homes, well pumps, ovens, dryers, etc.) and is both ETL and CSA listed – meaning the inverters are extremely safe and have passed specific safety tests.
With 12 x 200ah AGM batteries storing power for nighttime and cloudy days, you’ll have 600 amps of useable battery power (14.4kwh or 14,400 watt-hours) which are plenty big enough to run an entire (small to mid-size) home 24/7. Combined with your 16 x 200W high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels, this solar power kit is perfect for locations that need 300-600 watts of power continuously for 24-48 hours, before recharging. This kit also allows for charging the batteries from any standard fuel generator via the 12kw inverter/charger’s capabilities – so if it’s cloudy for multiple days, you could hook up a gas generator to the inverter/charger and charge up your battery bank for clean quiet power all night long.
Backed by Lifetime Support
All of our solar kits are backed by lifetime customer support via phone, live chat, and email. We also include all of the necessary schematics for setting up your solar kit.

There are several important things you need to know about the Flex Battery.
You can use it to expand the Flex 1500 Power Station and enjoy the most versatile portable and modular solar energy platform in the world.
The Flex 1500 allows you to gather, store and use clean, renewable power whenever and wherever you need it. The Flex 1500 console packs a huge punch in a compact, lightweight package with a 1,500-Watt pure sine wave inverter and 13.8 Volts of regulated DC power, so you can power dozens of 110-120VAC and 12V devices and appliances wherever you need them. You can expand the Flex 1500 with as many Flex Batteries as you need (up to 96).
You can use it with the Flex DC Power Station as a powerful solar-powered, regulated DC power source.
If you are a DC-only user and you don’t need the AC power of the Flex 1500, you can expand the Flex DC Power Station with as many Flex Batteries as you need (up to 96) and enjoy 13.8V of regulated DC output. You can now use the full capacity of your battery with 12V devices like portable refrigerators, water pumps, and DC appliances and devices.
You have 4 ways to charge the battery.
First, the MPPT controller in the Flex 1500 will charge each Flex Battery in your stack at the same time. One single Flex Battery will charge in as little as 3 1/2 hours. batteries in the stack will, of course, take more time. If you need faster charge times, you can add the Flex MPPT Supercharger, which triples the standard solar charge input to an unheard-of 90A input. Second, you can use the DC car charger. Third, you can AC charge with the Standard or Quick Wall Charger. Fourth, you can combine all these charge sources at the same time if you’d like. No other solar power station offers you this many charging options.
The Flex Battery is plug and play.
When you add Flex Batteries to a stack, they will automatically connect to each other when their voltages are within range of each other (about 0.8V). If your battery voltages are too far apart, you can still connect them, but each individual battery will only enable as it comes within range. As you use the Flex system, the batteries will automatically enable and equalize. Once connected, the power console display will show the combined state of charge for all currently enabled batteries in the stack.
You can expand your system to an unmatched amount of energy storage.
This is worth mentioning once more. You can connect up to 96 Flex Batteries (approximately 96 kWh) to one Flex 1500 or Flex DC Power Station and enjoy the same plug-and-play functionality.
