    Anker 767 Portable Power Station Review: Heavy Hitter That’s Ready for Anything

    We have practically become servants to our electronic devices, as proven by the panic that sets in when we are deprived of the electricity needed to power our phones, laptops, and appliances. That’s why the market for power banks and power stations continues to grow at a Rapid pace, churning out large batteries that come in every size and address every need. There’s no one size that fits all, just as different people have different power needs. Choosing a portable power station also involves making a choice between power and, of course, portability. There might be a certain sweet spot where you don’t have to make too much of a compromise between these two. That’s the promise that Anker’s latest 767 PowerHouse is making, and we give it a good push and pull to see if it can actually deliver.

    Aesthetics

    If there’s one thing that most portable power stations have in common, it’s that they are pretty much variations of an ice cooler design, the larger ones most especially. These often come as huge rectangular boxes with handles that jut out from the sides that are supposed to make them easier to carry. Given their weight, that’s almost never the case, and it seems that Anker finally got the message.

    The new Anker 767 PowerHouse Portable Power Station deviates from the norm in one very important way. There are now two wheels on one edge that already make it significantly easier to move it around. To that, however, Anker added a telescopic handle that you can pull out to help you pull the power station behind you. In other words, the Anker 767 is designed more like a suitcase, albeit one that lies on its back. It’s a marked step away from the relatively young Anker 757 PowerHouse that we reviewed recently, but considering how much it now weighs, that’s a much-welcomed improvement.

    It’s not just the shape that has changed, though. The Anker 767 also drops the dual color scheme of its predecessor, another hallmark of that cooler design. It still has bits of silver, but now mostly as accents against a predominantly black box, with a touch of light blue here and there. The overall design also looks a bit more refined now, like how the LED bar light’s button is now embedded in the strip and looks almost invisible. The LCD screen now also displays colors, which thankfully only takes sips of power out of the battery. If you’re not a fan, you can always turn it off via the button on the front of the power station.

    In most other cases, the design of the Anker 767 remains similar and familiar, and that’s actually a plus. All the output ports are still on the front for easy access, with the charging ports hidden behind a cover on the back. There are grilles on both sides for ventilation, and they now come in a snazzier diagonal design. All these elements work together to give the power station a more mature look, which will hopefully inspire more confidence in Anker’s product line.

    Ergonomics

    Anker calls the 767 PowerHouse its most powerful yet, and it’s also its heaviest. While it’s not the largest in the market, its 67lb heft is no joking matter. Fortunately, it doesn’t expect you to carry it with muscle power alone, though you can still definitely do that with the two handles at the sides. This time, however, Anker is employing one of man’s greatest inventions to lighten that load.

    Two wheels on one side and an extensible handle on the other finally give your back a much-needed break before you actually break it from lifting such a heavy object. You’ll still have to lift one side, though, to actually get rolling, but it’s a far more ergonomic design than simple handles. It would have probably been better if you could pull or push the power station without even lifting it, but that would require four wheels and a drastic redesign of the product.

    The same features that made the Anker 757 easy to use are thankfully unchanged here. All the most frequently used ports and buttons are on the front, and there are no rubber flaps other than on the two car sockets (yes, there are two of them!). That gives you easy and unrestricted access to the ports that you need the most instead of wasting time fiddling with covers and forgetting to put them back on again.

    Performance

    The Anker 767 PowerHouse’s claim to fame is, of course, its large battery, the largest that the brand has to offer so far. That’s a whopping 2,048Wh battery with a power output of 2,400W. That’s enough power to get you through any situation for days, whether it’s a power outage or a weekend camping trip. It has enough power to run even a portable fridge for about three days, let alone charge phones and laptops multiple times over. With the proper neutral-ground plug, Anker says you can even charge an electric car using this power station!

    That battery is, of course, made using the now-standard LiFePO4 material, the same that’s used in electric vehicles for their reliability and long life. What’s new to the Anker 767, however, is GaNPrime, Anker’s brand of Gallium Nitride technology. Without going into the technical nitty gritty, this means that the PowerHouse is able to charge not only faster but also more efficiently while also reducing energy loss while in use. The Anker 767 charges from zero to full in about two hours when plugged into an AC outlet. Using five 200W solar panels for a total 1,000W input, the battery can be fully charged in two and a half hours. Unfortunately, Anker hasn’t figured out yet how to combine AC and solar charging for even faster charging speeds.

    When it comes to output, Anker really outdid itself this time. There are admittedly fewer AC ports, now just four instead of six like on the Anker 757 PowerHouse, and the USB-A ports have been halved to just two. This is more in response to the changing times when there are more devices that can be charged or powered through USB-C, and the Anker 767 has three of these, each putting out 100W independently. There are also two car ports, oddly enough, one of which can probably be converted to a USB port with the right accessory. There’s still no wireless charging, which is unfortunate, given how clean and flat the power station’s top is.

    The Anker 767 finally adopts a feature that has become a staple among other portable power stations these days. It finally has a mobile app that lets you monitor the power station’s stats and flick a few switches from afar. What’s a bit different in Anker’s implementation is that the connection between the 767 PowerHouse and your phone is Bluetooth only. This is a huge advantage when using the portable battery outdoors since you won’t have to mess with ad-hoc Wi-Fi settings and such. Anker is a bit late to the party in this regard, but, as they say, better late than never.

    Sustainability

    Despite the design change, the Anker 767 PowerHouse still suffers the same weaknesses as its predecessors when it comes to sustainability. The power station itself is built using traditional materials, which include plenty of plastics. Whatever environmental gains it has mostly come indirectly through its features rather than its very nature.

    Anker still makes the same proposition of using green energy to deliver your power needs, presuming you go with solar charging. Of course, using batteries instead of fuel is already a huge sustainability win, but hopefully, the company won’t stop there. Unfortunately, it will probably take some time before Anker and its competitors start going down this road of using more sustainable materials and processes since that might not be their priority this early in the game.

    It does, however, paint power efficiency and power saving as wins for the environment. GaNPrime, for example, can help save energy over time, reducing the total carbon footprint. The Anker 767 also automatically turns off AC output when nothing is connected after 15 minutes or turns off any output port once a connected device is fully charged. These definitely help conserve power in the long run, but it still mostly depends on how people use the device rather than something inherent to it.

    Given the larger battery inside and its new design and features, it probably shouldn’t be a surprise that the Anker 767 PowerHouse costs quite a bit, but that price tag may still shock you regardless. With an SRP of 2,199, it’s definitely one of the more expensive options with this battery capacity. And since it doesn’t exist in a bubble, it will be hard not to compare it with its closest competitors.

    The EcoFlow Delta MAX 2000, for example, has the same 2,048Wh/2,400W LiFePO4 battery, and while it doesn’t make use of GaN technology, it does boast dual charging by using both AC and solar at the same time. It’s only slightly cheaper at 2,099 but is currently discounted down to 1,599. The Bluetti AC200MAX has a lower 2,200W output and fewer output ports but does also have dual charging and a significantly lower 1,899 starting price. Neither EcoFlow’s nor Bluetti’s contenders, however, have wheels to make them easier to move around.

    There’s no denying that the Anker 767 PowerHouse lives up to its name, but that price tag could be an instant deal-breaker for many people. Fortunately, Anker holds plenty of sale events with large discounts, so it might just be a matter of bidding your time for that moment to strike.

    Verdict

    When it comes to emergency power, the ideal solution is a rechargeable that checks all the right P’s of power, portability, and price. Given current technologies and the economy, however, that’s not an easy balance to strike. The Anker 767 PowerHouse easily checks the power box with its 2,048Wh battery and GaNPrime technology, offering efficiency and fast-charging speeds all in one go. Thankfully, its new design also meets the portability requirement by adding wheels to the package. Price, on the other hand, is a touchy subject, at least for the full standard price tag. It is definitely quite the investment, but one that will easily pay for itself if you find yourself spending a lot more time outdoors or always stressing over blackouts. In those situations, the Anker 767 PowerHouse Portable Power Station is indeed ready for anything to help you live a more convenient life in any given situation.

    Three earthed sockets with 230 V and up to 2300 W, two car sockets (cigarette lighter) with 12 V and 10 A (120 W), three USB-C ports with up to 100 W Power Delivery and two USB-A with up to 12 W are available as connections on the device. Too bad: Unlike the cigarette lighters and the charging ports, the sockets are not protected with a rubber cap or flap.

    Outputs: Full power and ten connections

    The promised over 2,000 watts were delivered by the power station without any problems in the long run, but this drains the battery in less than an hour. In most cases, one or more weaker loads will probably be connected.

    In our practical test, we were able to draw around 1,800 Wh from the batteries via the 230-volt socket at a continuous load of around 250 watts before they were drained after a good 7 hours. This corresponds to about 88 percent of the battery’s nominal capacity, which is a more than solid value in relation to some other competing products. The GaN technology with its high efficiency is noticeable here.

    As a power source for my work setting with a desktop PC and four 32-inch 4K screens, which together have a power hunger of around 300 W, a good 5 hours of work time was possible before the battery only displayed a few percent remaining charge. On the other hand, users who are only on the go with a notebook should easily be able to work for more than a working week on the go depending on the consumption and load of the device. With an average consumption of 30 W, which is already quite high for most laptops and activities, the runtime is around 60 hours. In idle mode at an average of 6 W, the device would run for around 300 hours.

    The UPS function is practical when working with the power station. In case of a power failure, the device can be used as an uninterruptible power supply and takes over the supply with a switching time of less than 20 ms. That should be long enough for many devices to ensure continuous operation, and it worked reliably in the test.

    Inputs: Anker PowerHouse 767 charges in one and a half hours in the test

    Where power comes out, energy has to go in first. The power station can only supply external devices with power via the built-in inverter and USB when the 2,048 Wh battery is charged. The charging ports are all on the back of the device.

    The easiest and fastest way to charge the Anker 767 Powerstation is via a power outlet. Simply connect the included cable with an earthed plug on one side and an IEC plug on the other to the power station. Thus, up to 2,200 W charging speed is possible, but not all the time.

    In the practical test, the charging speed varied depending on the battery capacity. While an almost empty battery charged with over 2,000 W in the test, it was only around 500 watts towards the end of the charging process. According to the meter, exactly 2,309 Wh flow into the battery, which results in an efficiency of just under 89 percent during charging.

    The manufacturer itself promises that the Anker 767 Powerstation can be charged to 80 percent within one hour on the mains. This was successfully proven in our test. It is fully charged in just under one and a half hours, which is significantly faster than many competing products.

    The high charging speed is a practical thing to get energy back into the batteries quickly. As an example, a camping trip can be mentioned here, where the power station can be fully charged again within a very short time at a power outlet. Alternatively, a car socket can also be used, but this naturally takes correspondingly longer.

    Charging via solar panel(s) with up to 1,000 watts

    The Anker PowerHouse 767 is also a solar generator. This means that it can also be charged via solar energy. The prerequisite for this is, of course, corresponding solar panels, which Anker optionally includes in the bundle of the power station. for an additional charge, of course. Thus, the Anker 767 Powerstation in a bundle with two 200-Watt panels costs about 3,700 Euros/~3999 according to the MSRP (e.g. at Amazon).

    An XT60 input is available for solar charging. Via this, the power station can be charged with up to 1,000 W (11. 32 V, 10 A; 32. 60V, 20A) via solar panels. This is significantly more than, for example, with the Anker 757 with 300 watts and thus allows a more Rapid charging via the sun. In theory, under ideal conditions and with sufficient solar panels equipped with a cumulative 1,000 watts, the Powerstation should fully charge in only about 2.5 hours. In practice, however, this usually takes longer.

    An Anker 531 solar panel (approx. 600 Euros at Amazon) was available for our test. In theory, it pumps new energy into battery with up to 200 Watts. However, in practice, it looked much bleaker in the end with less than 50 watts. That was however explicitly not due to the solar module, but simply the lack of sunshine and the low sun position here at the outskirts of Hamburg in the late autumn and winter. When the weather is suitable and the sun is higher in the coming year, we will post a small update on the Anker 531 solar panel here.

    Alternatively, other solar panels can be connected to the PowerHouse 767 from Anker, e.g. the already tested Anker 625 (approx. 370 Euros/~400 at Amazon) with 100 watts or from other manufacturers. It is important that the plug fits, whereby there are also different adapters.

    Volume and operation: Not audible at low load

    On a positive note, the power station was almost completely silent at low power output. Thus, it does not disturb, for example, when it is used as a power source for a mask in sleep apnea. Only at higher loads, starting at about 1,000 W, does the built-in fan make itself felt more or less regularly to remove the inverter’s waste heat. However, since the devices in use usually create a certain amount of noise themselves, the background noise disturbance of the power station will vary accordingly.

    Even when charging with around 2,000 W, the device is definitely not to be ignored and sounds with up to 55 decibels. If that bothers you, you can also activate silent charging via the settings in the app.

    The operation of the device is kept simple and is done via a few buttons. There is no central on/off switch. The device is permanently on standby, but according to our experience, it hardly consumes any energy even when not used for a longer period of time. There is a button for activating the AC sockets on the top right. The same applies to the car sockets. If no consumer is connected for 15 minutes, the ports automatically turn off again to save power. The total of five USB ports, on the other hand, are activated automatically as soon as a consumer (e.g. a smartphone) is plugged in.

    Three buttons to the right of the display round off the operating unit. They activate the screen for a short time as well as Bluetooth and the energy-saving function, which we will now discuss.

    Other functions: Display, app function and flashlight on board

    The color display without touch function is located on the front above the ports. This provides central information about the battery’s charge status and not only shows it as a percentage, but also visually via an emptying bar.

    The right side shows the current output and input power in watts on top of each other. On the left is the duration in hours, how long the device can still deliver energy at the current power or how long the charging process currently takes until the power station is full. Various icons at the bottom inform about further details and warn about too low or too high temperatures, among other things.

    There is also an icon that informs about the Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth button to the right of the display can be used to connect to the smartphone, which can then be used to control the power station remotely via the Anker app (iOS | Android ). This is possible for the first time in a device of this kind from Anker and is another indication of the premium segment. The initial setup is quick and well explained, but requires a short registration.

    In general, the app is actually quite good and clearly arranged. Like the display, it provides real-time information about the DC input and AC output, and also breaks down the output power per port. This gives a good overview.

    It also offers other options, such as activating an energy-saving mode and accessing the settings. Among other things, the screen’s brightness and timeout duration can be changed there, as well as firmware updates (if available). The energy-saving mode ensures that all ports are turned off as soon as the respective device is fully charged.

    In principle, the app connectivity is a fine thing. Unfortunately, the app and the power bank lose the connection when the smartphone is too far away or not used for a longer time. Then the Bluetooth button on the device has to be pressed again, so permanent remote control is not possible. On the other hand, this naturally saves power when Bluetooth is not transmitting all the time.

    The large LED light bar above the display can also be turned on and off via the app, but of course also on the device. It offers three levels of dimmable light to connect and disconnect devices from the power station. And it can also serve as (emergency) lighting, e.g. in case of a power outage or when camping. This is practical, but not a special feature for power stations from Anker as well as some other manufacturers, but rather a practical additional benefit. If you press the button for the light for a longer time or use the corresponding function of the app, the power station can also send an SOS signal.

    Mobility: Heavy, but still mobile

    The Anker 767 is a real flagship power station. It weighs around 30.5 kg (~67 pounds) with dimensions of around 52.5 x 25 x 39.5 cm (~20.1 x 9.8 x 15.6 inches) in length, width and height. However, the powerhouse hardly weighs more than the Bluetti AC200Max with the same capacity and slightly lower power.

    Lugging around a good 30 kg on the two handles on the left and right really requires some strength and is definitely not something you want to do for hours. But you don’t have to either. Unlike many competing products with a similar weight, Anker integrates a practical trolley function. We only know this from a few other models, such as the Zendure Superbase Pro (approx. 2,200 Euros/~2378 at Amazon).

    On one side, a long and sturdy handle can be pulled out to then comfortably drag the device behind you on its two rubber wheels. This makes transport significantly easier and much more pleasant than the trudging. And since Anker was clever enough to install reasonably sized 4.7-inch outdoor wheels, walking across a meadow or sandy path is not a big challenge either.

    Also practical: The power station can not only be placed horizontally, but also upright thanks to rubber bumpers on the left handle. The display is then oriented vertically, but the device can be stored a bit more space-saving and the trolley handle is also easier to pull in and out.

    Conclusion: Powerstation flagship Anker 767 convinces in the test

    Anker’s PowerStation flagship PowerHouse 767 is a real heavyweight. What would actually be a point of criticism in terms of weight hardly becomes a problem in everyday use due to the practical trolley mobility solution. In terms of performance data and capacity, however, it is a benefit.

    With its good 2,000 Wh and 2,300 W, the Anker 767 offers enough capacity and power for many situations in life to supply all kinds of devices with a lot of power or over a long period of time.

    Among other things, the device collects plus points with the high charging speed at the socket as well as sufficient input power via solar (if the weather plays along). In addition, there are many ports and a high efficiency when retrieving the stored energy.

    In addition to the aforementioned wheels and extendable handle, the integrated light and the app connectivity, which is unfortunately not free of criticism, were also appealing in the test. In addition, the device has a high-quality build and makes a stable impression.

    If you are looking for a powerful and versatile power station as a blackout precaution or for camping and the like, you will not go wrong with the Anker PowerHouse 767 according to our impressions, but you will have to pay a few dollars for it.

    Warranty Information Tips

    Order ID: You can find this in the order history of the account the purchase was made through.

    Model Number: You can find this in your account’s order history, as well as on the packaging or manual of the product. Some products come with the model number printed directly on them. Model numbers help us identify the exact make and model of your product more accurately than a product name would.

    SN: The SN can be found on the main body of the product or on the charging cable that came with the product. It’s located on a sticker, tag, or printed directly on the product, but never on the packaging. Looks something like SN: AXXXXXXX.

    Note: Before Anker can release a replacement, it may be necessary to return the defective item for quality inspection.

    Refund policy

    Anker provides a straightforward warranty that is processed in the most hassle-free way possible. Please refer to the chart below for the warranty timelines of various products, as warranty periods differ according to models.

    This limited warranty provided by the manufacturer in no way affects a potential statutory warranty provided by law.

    Holiday Returns Policy

    Anker has extended the Holiday Returns Policy for 2022. Orders purchased between October 11th, 2022 and December 25th, 2022 are eligible for return until January 31st, 2023.

    30-Day Money-Back Guarantee for Any Reason

    Undamaged products may be returned for a full refund for any reason within 30 days of the date of purchase, excluding Corporate Purchase orders which may not be refundable. Once the returned item arrives back in Anker’s warehouse for inspection, the refund process will begin.

    • Returns must include all accessories ( When returning products purchased in the Buy One, Get One for 0.99 promotion, you must return both products. If you only return one product, the refund amount will be the amount paid minus the MSRP of the 0.99 product. )
    • Items must include original packaging
    • For non-quality related warranty claims, buyer is responsible for shipping costs
    • For non-quality related warranty claims, Anker refunds the cost of the product itself
    • Returns may be rejected if items do not meet the above requirements

    Refund requests for the 30-day money back guarantee expire 30 days after opening a warranty claim. It is not possible to process a request for a refund for non-quality issues for items that have expired this 30-day window.     How long does it take to get a refund?Refunds will be issued once the item arrives at our warehouse. The refund will be credited back using the same method as when your initial order was made. Processing time typically takes 3-5 working days.

    Warranty Claims for Quality-Related Issues

    All quality-related defects on items sold directly by Anker or Anker’s authorized resellers are covered by an extensive warranty, starting from the date of purchase (see top of page for your product’s warranty timeline).

    Anker’s limited warranty is restricted to the country of purchase. The limited warranty is void on items taken outside the country they were originally bought in or shipped to directly from an authorized online purchase.

    Quality-related warranty claims on purchases made through Anker’s authorized distributors and retailers, such as Walmart and BestBuy, are handled through Anker (see list of authorized distributors and retailers here).

    For quality-related warranty claims, items will be replaced with a factory refurbished model of equal value when available, otherwise a new item will be sent. In situations where a replacement is not an available or preferred option, Anker will offer a partial refund according to the usage time of the device.

    Warranties on all replacements follow the same warranty timeframe of the original defective item, or 3 months after being replaced, whichever is longer. Warranties on products are void after having been fully refunded.

    • Buyer must provide sufficient proof of purchase
    • Anker must document what happens when buyers troubleshoot the product
    • The defective item’s serial number and/or visible proof depicting the defect are required
    • It may be necessary to return an item for quality inspection
    • For defective items that Anker needs to have returned, warranties on those replacements are voided if the wrong item is returned to Anker or if the defective item is not returned.
    • Order number from online purchases made through Anker or Anker’s authorized resellers
    • Sales invoice
    • Dated sales receipt from an authorized Anker reseller that shows a description of the product along with its price

    Please note that more than one type of proof of purchase may be required to process a warranty claim (such as receipt of money transfer and confirmation of address item was originally shipped to).

    Warranty claims for product defects expire 90 days after opening a warranty claim. It is not possible to process a warranty claim for items that have expired their original warranty timeframe or 90-day warranty claim request period, whichever is longer.

    Shipping costs must be covered by buyer in the following situations:

    • Returning products for any reason other than a proven defect
    • Warranty claims on items taken outside the original country of purchase
    • Buyer’s accidental returns
    • Returning personal items
    • Returning items claimed to have defects but found by Anker quality control to be in working condition

    How will my delivery be shipped?

    I ordered more than one item. Will they all be delivered at the same time?

    We try to make sure all your items reach you at the same time. Sometimes our products are not always sent together since different shipping options can be used. depending on the product. Once an item has been shipped. you will receive a shipment notification email.

    Can I change the delivery address of my package after it has been shipped out?

    Unfortunately, we cannot change the shipment once the product is en route,but you can cancel an order within 60 minutes and reorder with accurate details.

    If the order is canceled by the customer more than 1 hour after placing an order, the customer must bear any return shipping fees that may apply.

    If the wrong address is provided by the customer, and this leads to the package being lost or otherwise becoming unrecoverable, the customer shall bear the loss. Anker will not replace the order or issue a refund.

    What should I do when using a solar charger to charge Anker 767 Portable Power Station?

    The solar input supports a 11-60V solar charger with an XT-60 connector. If you use a 11-32V charger, the current supports 10A max while a 32-60V charger supports 20A max. We recommend using Anker 531 Solar Panels (200W) for better compatibility.

    How should I store and maintain the power station?

    -Turn off all the outputs when not in use to avoid battery from draining.

    -Store in a dry and cool area.

    -Check the battery capacity each week. If the battery level is below 30%, charge the power station to 100%. Fully charge it once every 3 months.

    What should I pay attention to when using the Anker app?

    Connect to a network before using the app for the first time. After connecting successfully, you can connect the power station to devices off-grid (Wi-Fi not supported).

    Can the power station charge my electric car?

    You need to purchase a neutral-ground plug to charge an electric car such as a Tesla with this portable power station. After plugging it into one of the outlets, you can then charge your electric car.

    Can I recharge Anker 767 Portable Power Station using AC and DC input at the same time?

    Using AC and DC input simultaneously is not possible. AC input is prioritized as the main input source if both are connected. When AC recharging is not used, it will automatically switch to DC recharging.

    Anker has announced the 767 Powerhouse with the largest battery capacity from its power station lineup. It’s also the first power and solar generator that is equipped with its proprietary GaNPrime charging technology found on its compact chargers. Anker has yet to reveal the pricing of the 767 Powerhouse, but it is also throwing up a hefty 400 pre-sale discount.

    It didn’t take a year for Anker to refresh a more capable backup power station after the launch of 757 Powerhouse model. The portable Anker 767 Powerhouse comes with 2400 wattage or 2048Wh capacity, but it can be doubled to 4096Wh through an Anker 760 expansion battery. Besides laptops and smartphones, it can charge all types of home appliances ranging from refrigerators and microwaves, which are fitting for RV trips or camping.

    There are three-pronged sockets along with a car size socket, full sized USB-A, and Type-C USB ports. A built-in display and LED bar light are also found at the front. The company hasn’t revealed the exact dimensions and weight of its new power station yet. However, you do get a suitcase design with an extendable pull handle and a pair of bottom wheels for easier transport of the battery block.

    Inside is lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) material that is also used in mainstream electric cars. This type of battery enables long-lasting cycles compared to lithium ions.
