Solar Panels
A solar panel is a device which is an arrangement of multiple solar cells, which are connected in parallel or series alignment to observe sunlight and then generate direct current (DC). It is also known as Photovoltaic (PV) module, सोलर प्लेट or सौर ऊर्जा. There are seven main components of a solar panel which are combined to make a single PV module. Photovoltaic has two words in it, in Latin language ‘photo’ means ‘light’ and ‘voltaic’ means ‘electricity’, which defines electricity generated from light.
What is Solar Energy?
Solar energy is the light, and heat radiated from the Sun. On earth, to have the existence of human life, along with, oxygen and water. heat light become essential and the source of these is the sun. The nuclear fusion reaction happening on the sun has been the reason for the heat light it has been generating for millions of years.
Sunlight takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds to reach the earth’s surface, the distance is about 149.22 million Kms. The photons emitted from the surface of the sun travel this long distance to reach earth. So, the actual location of the sun that you can see is about 8 mins and 20 seconds earlier.
How is Solar Energy Produced?
The solar PV modules help a generation of solar energy; however, it can’t be used in its raw form as the panels tend to produce the DC – direct current- a flat linear output and a tendency of lots of transmission losses. Also, all household equipment use AC- alternating current, a sinusoidal wave.
In this scenario, the conversion of DC to AC is very important, for which an inverter is needed. Further, based on the need of requirement, we can then add as many components as possible including rooftop solar to generate electricity. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, solar panels work on cloudy days but generate less power due to low light availability. You can connect batteries with your solar power system to get power during cloudy days. It will offer you power at night.
Yes, It can also run your Air conditioner. Solar panels can provide enough power to run an AC unit, but only if you get a big enough system to generate that amount of electricity. For single 1.5-ton AC you may need min 3kW of solar power plant.
With bluebird 250W Polycrystalline solar panel you can easily run 3 ceiling fans and 5 LED bulbs of 10W Each.
Minimum 3 pieces of Bluebird 250W Polycrystalline solar panel are required to charge your 2 batteries of 150Ah in 7 hours.
Yes, Bluebird 250W Polycrystalline solar panel can be converted to AC solar panel / module by connecting a microinverter to this solar panel. This way your solar panel will generate AC power instead of DC power.
Yes, It can be used for charging EV Car but number of Bluebird 250W solar panels required will depend upon your car battery and electrical requirements.
It is suggested that you use and 24V inverter with a set of 2 no. of 12V (12V12V=24V) battery with this solar panel. It is compatible with all inverter and battery brands.
Solar panels are manufactured with strict QC to ensure they perform well for a minimum of 25 years. So, if you find your panels are not generating power, it’s more likely that the defect is in some other appliance like an inverter, charge controller, wiring, or batteries. Zero power output might be due to a faulty inverter or charge controller. It’s also possible that one solar panel in your solar photovoltaic array might have failed. One defective PV module can shut down the whole system when connected in series.
No current/ampere doesn’t mean the solar panel is faulty. You will not get any current if your batteries are fully charged, and there’s no place for it to go. The current flow stops through the solar panel at Voc = Voltage Open Circuit. No current can flow in an Open Circuit. You are at an open circuit if your batteries are charged. Wait until the sun shines bright at noontime. Turn everything on, and this might solve your problem.
How many solar panels will I need?
The number of solar panels you need for your home depends on your daily energy consumption needs and your solar system size. The bigger your solar system is, the more solar panels you’ll need.
However, you won’t need many solar panels if you don’t have many consumers in the house.
The panel’s power rating also determines the number of panels you’ll use. The higher your panel’s power rating, the fewer panels you’ll need to meet your home’s power demands.
Number of solar panels x output = Solar system size

Example: 20 x 330W panels = 6,600 W or 6.6kW solar system
What’s the size of a 250W solar panel?
The size of solar varies depending on the manufacturer. However, the standard size for a 250W solar panel is 1.6m x 1.0m. This is approximately 1.6 square meters.
When looking to install these panels in your home, you’ll need multiple panels to meet your power demands. A 250W panel means that the maximum power output of the panel is 250W.
Therefore, you’ll need 4-5 panels to generate 1kW or 1000W of energy. The more energy you need to offset in your home, the more solar panels you’ll need.
For a typical Australian home, you may need around 20 250W–solar panels to generate enough electricity. This will cost you 32 square meters of your roof.
Is a 320W solar panel physically bigger?
Not necessarily. Some manufacturers have designed the same 60-cell solar panel with much higher efficiency, 330W compared to the older 250W panels. This way, assuming you’re looking to install a 5kW system, you’ll need about 15 x 330-watt solar panels for your home instead of 20 x 250-watt panels.
For your 6kW solar system, you’ll need about 20 c 330W solar panels. With the standard solar panel measuring 1.7m x 1.0m, you’ll need between 34m 2 – of roof space to fit the entire system.
Keep in mind; the solar panels need to be a few inches from the edges of the roof, so the space needed might be a bit larger. Use an estimation of /-5 square meters on your roof space calculations.
If you have limited roof space, you need to seek out panels with a higher output like a Solar Panel 400W PERC Monocrystalline ERA. With 400W output, you will only need 16 Panels and 28m2 of roof space.
